Artist’s Bio

Sacha Colvin: Born: (Missouri, 1952)

I studied at California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland, CA. graduated in 1976 from Central Methodist University with a BA Degree in Art. I am currently residing in Gladstone, Mo. I relocated from Scottsdale AZ. in 2022 where I lived and worked for 30 years. In 2023 I participated in four Group Exhibitions at Jones Gallery in Kansas City, Mo. In 2003 I entered the “Undiscovered Artist Contest/Scottsdale/East Valley/Scottsdale Tribune and was chosen to exhibit at Duley Jones Gallery, Scottsdale, AZ. I have been interested in art from an early age and have been oil painting for the past 27 years, prior to that I worked in oil pastels on paper, watercolor, ink drawings, woodcuts.

Growing up on forty acres of land in Missouri I acquired a love of nature and the landscape. I am an oil painter and currently concentrating on landscapes, seascapes, passages, I was inspired by the cliffs and water of Malta. I love to travel and that has inspired my art, my art style is representational, I take photographs , do sketches of what I want to describe on canvas, once I am acquainted with the subject I visualize it in my mind and begin to paint and leave the world behind. I begin with an underpainting and use glazes and then add the details.

Artist’s that have impacted me are Henri Rousseau (for the mystery) (The Sleeping Gypsy)

Georgia O’Keeffe (forms, shapes and the language of her expression, her landscapes.

Camille Pissarro ( the atmosphere)
